Mrs. Ewing Is Sad...
Well, guys, the end is upon us. You've been a wonderful class, and I'll never forget you. You all were my first-ever full-fledged blogging class! I was just looking over your blog entries, and I felt very proud.
This brings us to one of your final 5th grade rites of passage: your last required blog entries.
These need to be your most thoughtful and professional entries. !We don't want any 2 sentence blog entries on these. Use your brain! I will use these as examples in my summer school classes and also for next year's 5th graders.
Here are your topics:
- Dear Next Year's Class - This one is your chance to write an open letter to the kids who will be in my classes next year. Give them advice, give them warnings, etc. What do you wish someone had told you at the beginning of 5th grade?
- 5th Grade Memories - What will you remember about this year? What surprised you? Who did you get to know better? What have you learned about yourself this year? What was your best moment? Your worst? Take your readers down "memory lane". Be creative!
- Is blogging worthwhile? - Other teachers are getting into blogging. Do you think it's a worthwhile activity for students? Whatever your opinion, make sure you explain (or elaborate).
Do your best - I'll be reading!
Love,
Mrs. Ewing

5 Things You Probably Don't Know About Me

4. Before I decided to become a teacher, I was majoring in Engineering!
3. My family creates games about everything - songs on the radio, movies, you name it! My favorite is where you have to quote a line from a movie and everyone else has to guess the movie.
2. My husband is a preacher!
1. When I was in high school, I forgot to put my car in park one night, and it rolled.......out of the driveway.......across the street.......down into the neighbor's yard.............and crashed into their house........and knocked in their brick wall in their den.........needless to say.....I was in BIG trouble!!!!!

1st Writing Assignment - An easy one!
What is the best book you've ever read or movie you've ever seen? Think for a few minutes about what your all-time favorite book or movie is. Once you've decided, ask yourself the following: what makes the book/movie so good, why is it memorable, what about it makes the story such a good one?
Make sure your entry includes:
- what your favorite movie/book is
- what makes it special or good
- why it's so memorable
- several reasons that make it your favorite - explain your reasons.
When you're finished, you can:
- Work on your lay-out
- Read other people's blogs
- Make comments on other people's blogs
- Write another entry on anything.
